Unfortunately, most of us tend to let our circumstances choose our attitude for us.
You have the opportunity to train your mind for positive thinking. Why?
Well, because you have the ability to make, from the beginning of your circumstances, an attitude that contributes to your happiness and your joie de vivre.
If you practice this often, you will strengthen your mental ability to make conscious efforts to be happier.
You have the choice between learning to master your weaknesses or letting yourself be won over by mental ruminations and other negative thoughts that contribute to your distress and diminish your joy of life.
By detaching yourself from your weaknesses, you leave behind you the feelings and emotions that accompany them.
Which means you become aware of their devastating effects that have fueled your life.
Why do you want to train your mind for positive thinking?
When you are involved in your daily tasks, your mind wavers in the past and in the future, it is rarely or not at all in the present moment. And yet, the present moment is the only moment you have at your disposal, there is no other.
The functioning of the mind is thus done, it goes in all directions. But when you observe your thoughts consciously, you choose to be in the present moment.
You will be able to master this practice only by training, perseverance, and discipline. If you want to carry out the race of your life, you must take into account the functioning of your mind, your thoughts.
Your thoughts, your current emotions are there for a reason. And if you want to understand what is going on, you need to be equipped, that is the reason why you must first train your mind for positive thinking.
Here are fifteen powerful ways to train your mind for positive thinking in order to help you do what makes you happy and share that happiness.
#1 Observe your thoughts
Become an observer of your thoughts. Your thoughts generate emotions, feelings, attitudes and if you try to cling to their effects, or worse, wanting to push them back serves only to create the opposite effect.
“Don’t try to repress your thoughts by forcing them out of your mind because that will have precisely the same effect as if you were trying to smooth rough water with a flatiron — you’re just going to disturb it all the more.”

#2 One positive action per day
Start by sorting out your ideas. One action a day is to get rid of cumbersome things and thoughts. Make a list by starting with pleasant things, things you like to do. The objective here is to activate positive emotions.
By choosing positive action every day, you attract positive experiences and energies to you, so you diminish negative experiences.
Everyday experience determines the quality of your day. A small negative situation can actually ruin your entire day. You have certainly experienced such a situation once in your life.
#3 Learn to love yourself
If you want to change things and move forward, it must start with you because before hoping that other people will love you, it is always you who must love you unconditionally with indulgence and respect.
This is when you begin to love yourself, take care of yourself by cultivating a positive mind (positive thoughts) and feel confident that you can go to others.
But if you are unable to love yourself, you will suffer by mental ruminations and other negative thoughts about yourself and others. You will create unhealthy relationships with yourself and others because you lack confidence in yourself. If you don’t love yourself, you will suffer from insecurity and therefore anxiety. It is truly a self-destructive circle.
We all have our weaknesses and that is part of the human being that we are and that is why you have to praise you as much as you congratulate others.
When you begin to train your mind for positive thinking, you will feel confident as positive thoughts will naturally occupy your mind.
#4 Train your mind for positive thinking through meditation
Mindfulness meditation is one of the most powerful ways to train your mind for positive thinking. The benefit of meditation is certain and it appeases the mind because it provides much goodness.
Mindfulness meditation teaches you to be more focused. You have more confidence in yourself, you are more open and open to others.
The practice of mindfulness meditation makes you complete because you know that lasting happiness in life is not to be found in outer objects.
You understand that you are the center of your world and therefore you take total responsibility for what you are and not what you have.
#5 Do good around you
“By happy fraternity amongst themselves, the embodied beings get the supreme peace. Then all this earth shines like one house. When the men, the embodied beings treat each other with equal respect and have good brotherly feelings amongst themselves, great peace and harmony abound. Then all this earth shines like one house. The whole world shines like the one dwelling house of the entire human family.”

When you share your happiness with others, you fully express lasting peace. Good brotherly feelings and respect are the mature expressions of human experience.
So that the whole world shines with a thousand lights and for harmony abound, we must adopt a solidarity and emotionally intelligent attitude.
We must always be ready to extend a friendly hand and have emphatic support for our neighbor.
In other words, when you take the step to train your mind for positive thinking, you make the whole world shine like the only dwelling house of the human family. Happiness brings happiness.
And so, when you’re happy, you spread your joy to others and to all humanity.
#6 All is well, right here, right now
“Always remember, deep in your heart that All is Well and everything is Unfolding as it should. You are bright and shining. You are the sun behind the clouds. Rejoice! All is Well.”
When you have thoughts of worry, negativity, and guilt, you are unable to enjoy the present moment because you are regretting the past or apprehending the future.
But right now, you have the opportunity to be what you are, that is to say, be happy. Just turn your mind inward.
Eckhart Tolle writes in his book The Power of Now that “those who have not found their true richness, that is, the radiant joy of Being and the deep and unshakable peace that accompany it, are beggars, even if they are very materially rich.
They turn the mind outward to gather a few crumbs of pleasure and satisfaction, to feel confirmed, secure or loved, while they shelter in them a treasure which not only conceals all these things but is infinitely more grandiose than anything the world can offer them.”
#7 Laugh as often as possible
Hotei (the laughing Buddha) was a Zen master who lived in the tenth century. The Zen master went from town to town to spread joy and happiness.
He always carried on his back a cloth bag containing small toys and sweets that he distributed to the people he met.
Children and adults crowded around him to receive toys and lollies. Then he would put his bag on the floor and look at the sky, bursting into laughter.
His laugh was so contagious that everyone around him laughed madly too. This was his method of spreading joy and happiness.
The cloth bag filled with toys represents the problems of the world. When you lay your burdens on the floor, you practice letting go. And laughter helps lessen the intensity of your problems
It is now recognized that laughter is the best medicine in producing significant and beneficial biochemical changes for the body.
Whether your ailments are physical or emotional, laughter can help you drop off your heavy luggage such as anxiety, disappointment or nervousness.
The mere laughter has extremely positive physiological and psychological effects.
Remember, laughter is contagious, and when you laugh, besides the beneficial effects on your health, you spread that good energy and good humor around you, just like Hotei, the monk, did.

#8 Imagination vs Willpower
“When the imagination and will power are in conflict, are antagonistic, it is always the imagination which wins, without any exception.”
Why is the imagination more powerful than the willpower? To answer this question, I always give this example to my students.
I tell them to do not think of an elephant!
So, what happened? You have inevitably thought of an elephant.
How can we explain that? Well, if a person’s imagination and willpower are in conflict, imagination will always win the battle.
Émile Coué often used this illustration (Walking the Plank) to explain the power of the imagination on the willpower:
We can all walk without difficulty on a long plank of wood placed on the ground.
Now, could you do the same exercise with the same ease if the long plank of wood was hung across a street between two skyscrapers?
The answer is obviously negative. When the “willpower” and the “imagination” are in conflict, the imagination is the strongest.
Despite all our efforts, the fear of the fall hampers our conscious intention of accomplishing an act as simple as walking in a straight line.
Most people spend a lot of time telling themselves what they do not want, instead of what they want.
But they do not realize that in one way or another, it is they who are creating what is happening in their lives.
They can have all the wills they can muster, the results will always be the same. Their imagination is encumbered with negative thoughts and the fear of failure.
The mind works with pictures, not words. When you have negative thoughts, you will produce only negative images. Imagination is the secret ingredient of the functioning of life.
Let’s see what Abraham-Hicks says about this.
When you feel a negative emotion, you must not reject it, on the contrary, it is a treasure, it must be scrutinized in every way.
Scrutinize his presence, his importance and of course the thoughts that this emotion generates. Then, divert your attention to what you really want.
Positive thoughts and emotions will appear and negative feelings will gradually fade away.
#9 Overcoming Resistance to Change
We are all sometimes partisans and sometimes opponents to change. It’s natural.
The reason is simple, each individual has a personality, a personal culture, a personal history or a personal belief different from the others.
For a given individual, a change can be a discovery and beneficial while the same change engenders anxiety and stress in someone else.
Indeed, having no longer any usual reference points to which to cling, change can be a source of fear and instability.
Resistance to change can be a source of constant stress and anxiety, especially when decisions are to be made. That’s why you have to train your mind for positive thinking. This is the key to a better life.
Your emotions, your current feelings are the result of your previous thoughts and actions.
The key to all your future changes is based on the acceptance of your current state.
This may sound cruel to some people or hard to hear or accept for others but that’s really how the universe works. This is the most powerful law in the universe.
“You are a creator; you create with your every thought.
By the Universal Law of Attraction, you are attracting the essence of whatever you are choosing to give your attention to — whether wanted or unwanted. And so, you often create by default. But you can know by how your emotion feels if what you are attracting (creating) is what you are wanting or if it is not what you are wanting. (Where is your attention focused?).”
Now, whatever your current situation, you have to go forward and the key to change is acceptance. You are responsible for everything that makes your life your life.
You accept all your thoughts, all your emotions, all your feelings.
Acceptance is the letting go. Drop your burdens on the ground and travel lightly for the rest of your life.
Acceptance is not to judge such or such thoughts or emotions.
Acceptance is to be happy here and now. Remember the laughing Buddha, this is acceptance.
#11 Ask for help and guidance
“However much burden we throw on God, He bears all of it.
Given that the supreme decision-making power carries out all activities, why should we, instead of giving to Him, constantly think – should I act this way or should I act the other way?
When you know that the train carries all the burdens, why should you suffer by carrying your luggage on your shoulders?”

Place your luggage full of anxiety and insecurity on the ground and be yourself, be happy.
So trust God. He is more than willing to grant your requests as long as He is for your own good.
By having God as a guide, you have no reason not to believe or not to say that you can’t accomplish this or that.
You can do it here and now. Everything is achievable with God. After all, God is within you.
#12 When you fall down, get back up and try again
When you stumble, learn to stand up and be even stronger than before instead of stumbling and staying on the ground, feeling sorry for your pain.
Life is like waves, it is a succession of ups and downs. We have this ability to raise our heads when things are not going well.
Despite the inevitable setbacks, life is a wonderful and challenging adventure. With determination and perseverance, we are always ready to face the challenges.
But to do this, one must train the mind for positive thinking.
#13 Organize your day
The days pass very quickly and we are soon overwhelmed by the tasks of everyday life, that is, work, children, housework, shopping, going out, and the list is long.
The solution to all this is learning to be organized.
It’s easier said than done. But with a few ideas and practice, we can deal with any situation.
When you are overwhelmed by daily tasks, this can cause negative thoughts and emotions accompanying them.
The best way to remedy this is to plan your day.
Most people do not plan their day, they vaguely make a list in their head and often they push back the objectives for the next day or the day after tomorrow and so on.
You should not only keep your daily tasks in your mind, but you should also make a list of your daily tasks to accomplish on a sheet of paper or in a notebook that you always carry on you.
Remember that you can’t do all your tasks in one day. On the other hand, you have to finish your tasks you have planned for the day.
For this, make sure that the objectives of the day are clearly defined in writing and do one task at a time and strike out as you go.
If you adopt this attitude, you will avoid some feelings of frustration and anger.
#14 Focus on the bright side
Everyone has their fears and anxieties, it is part of life but it is your attitude that will determine your potential for success.
Seeing the funny side of a situation goes far beyond positive thinking.
“It is your attitude and not your aptitude that will determine your altitude.”
Every human being has the opportunity to transform his life because we all have the capacity and the potential to overcome the obstacles.
Life is not a long quiet river but when you look on the bright side, it allows you to reach new heights of success, the opportunity to blossom and self-fulfillment.
Your failures are there because you have tried new things and focusing on the bright side will allow you to overcome your obstacles and get back on your feet. And you’re ready for a fresh start.
#15 Train your mind for positive thinking through gratitude
“It is through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension of life opens up.”
What is gratitude? A simple definition would be recognition, feelings of affection experienced when someone does you a service or a benefit.
But research into neuroscience goes much further. Gratitude has a beneficial effect on the mind and the body. The act of gratitude creates positive emotions and have an impact on our brain and immune system.
The scientific study of three psychologists, Dr. Michael E. McCullough Southern Methodist University, Dr. Robert A. Emmons University of California, Davis and Dr. Jo-Ann Tsang Southern Methodist University demonstrated that feeling of gratitude activates the brain stem region that produces dopamine, as well as serotonin in the anterior cingulate cortex. What does that mean?
These hormones act on our brain and cause a sense of well-being. You adopt a positive attitude, therefore, positive thoughts.
These same hormones, which improves mood among others, are produced by the body during physical activity. It’s amazing, isn’t it?
You have a different look on others because your behavior is more sociable. You are rarely sad.
But gratitude is not just a hormone issue, according to researchers, grateful people have a great capacity for empathy, willingness to forgive and the tendency to offer help and support to others.
Grateful people are less willing to experience negative emotions and they are less concerned about materialistic activities.
And you know what, gratitude, that can be learned.
